The dealership wanted me to take them up on the paint kit of my choice which was not really what I wanted.
Since my bike is still in production I decided to just have the tank replace with the exact same tank.
I really like how it looks... without the chip ofcourse! :>
The tech was felt really bad and made a point to be there when I got there (on his day off) to apologize!
I have a great dealership and proubly wouldn't have seen it for a few days if they hadn't pointed it out, so I am satisfied with the new tank!
First off, is this the dealership in which you bought the bike? It could make a difference. Parts like that shouldnt be a problem to have replaced. Ive not dealt with HD on such an issue, but working on metrics I have seen first hand many parts swapped because of paint blems. Be patient and kill them with kindness, and more than likely you will get the outcome your expecting.
Yeah, this dealership is where I bought it and have bought a lot of other stuff there since then. I realize that HD has their policy about things too, so I know it may not be up to the dealer completely. And yes, the bike still has warranty (I bought it 3 months ago brand new) but they are saying with cosmetic issues anything wrong has to be reported at time of delivery or sale. It's just funny because to me, anyone could look at it and tell that it is under the clear coat and not a scratch, ding, dent, etc. Thanks for the info and advice guys, I will just hang tight and be very nice and see what happens.
let me tell you dude, don't bother being that nice, is your time worth nothing? You have tried, why do these Harley dealers fail to look after issues time and time again?? keep reading this board and see if you want to kill them with kindness ... how bout I paid a premium to have a show quality ride, so fix it !
you got to look your bike over real good before you pick it up from the dealer.Have the service writer look at it with you as you drop it off to show him there are no dings scratches etc. sort of the way they do at the car rental agency, this way they can;t lie out of it
