Cb squelch issue
Hi all. I am new to the group and I would be grateful for your support in addressing an issue with my CB. I have a 2016 Ultra Limited. Basically, I have to have the squelch set to a high level (14 bars) to stop it making me deaf! This happens on all channels even when the engine is not running.
I have set the INT VOX setting to a low level so I cant see that being the problem, and the radio is also on low volume, and is often off. I am not sure if this makes any difference but just in case!! The antenna is fitted on the correct side so I know that this is not the problem.
Your support and guidance would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks.
Dave

man i haven't fooled with cb radio in decades. the squelch cuts sensitivity, so which direction are you complaining about, traffic talk or snow??
has the antenna been tuned? (SWL). i am sure new ones are all digital inside these days but the old analog boards had pots that can be adj. best bet is to bring it to a cb shop.

correct SWR and not SWL dislexic fingers!!!
just because you bought it from hd as a system does not mean the swr is correct. this can possibly cause damage to the unit. meters are cheap these days. the newer antenna are not trim-able so there should be an electronic adj inside the unit. i ran two in my truck, one for smokey and the other to keep awake and position also makes a diff since the machine acts as a ground plane and the field will be elliptical.
