Default Shoei Neotec 2 and Headset

Hey guys, I just bought the new Shoei Neotec 2 helmet and the J&M Elite helmet (corded) headset to use on my 2015 Ultra Limited. The problem is that the helmet is specifically designed to be used with the Sena SRL Bluetooth headset. It has special enclosures built into the helmet for the components to be contained in, including premolded speaker pockets which are formed into the plastic internal shell. Unfortunately these molded pockets are too small for the speakers to fit into, thus in order to install them I will have to cut up the interior of a brand new $700.00 helmet.

I’ve looked up some of the reviews on the Sena SRL system along with the Sena Freewire, so that I could run the system through my Boom Audio system, and so far the reviews haven’t been stellar.
Would like to know if any of you have experience with the new helmet and/or the Sena SRL and Freewire. I’m trying to decide if I should butcher my new helmet or go with the Sena.

Thanks for any input.

I have a Neotec 2 with the SRL system. The nice benefit of using the SRL system, is that they system integrated into the helmet. No large device sticking out on side of helmet. Sound quality I would say is average for communication systems. Communication sounds good paired with your phone. GPS directions are nice and clear. Music is not quite as good. The small speakers lack the bass power. Definitely hear more highs over bass. I don't use Freewire or the Boom Audio, so can't comment on that. I would imagine it works with them but you will not get high quality music through the SRL system. Hope that helps.

I also have the neotec and went with the J&M elite and sent the helmet to J&M to have them install.

Thank you for the replies. I actually wound up sending the J&S headset back and bought the Sena SRL system for the new Neotec helmet. I also bought the Sena Freewire system so that I could run everything through the Boom Audio System on my bike. It was a bit of a challenge to get everything synched up and working and had to go online with Sena and the Freewire, to get the latest updates on it in order to get it to acknowledge the microphone and voice commands. Once I did all that tho, I’m now very happy with the system. The music and sound quality is head and shoulders above the wired Harley headset I was using in my other helmet. I can’t say how it compares to the J&S headset because I never got that installed before I sent it back. So for anyone that may be wondering or on the fence about the Sena Freewire or SRL headset, I am very happy with mine and don’t have any regrets about not going with the other system. It’s nice not to be teathered to the bike and I am relieved to not have had to cut up s brand new $700.00 helmet.

Why do people discuss a piece of equipment without posting a picture of it?
