oil drained

I have a 05 1200 Custom Sportster which has been sitting for about 3 months. I noticed the oil level in the tank has dropped considerably. I believe it drained into the crankcase. Can I start the bike and let it idle to get the oil back into the tank without damaging anything?

sure!
wet sumping has been around a long time
make sure you have enough oil to keep the oil light out and block up the bike level and let her idle.
