Default Fork spring re -install ?

Having a terrible time trying to get the top nut back on on one side of my fork legs, any suggestions ? Got one side on without too much trouble but the other one will just not catch the threads. I'm using a 1ft. extended bar on my ratchet and I have the 35mm socket on, getting some good downwards torque but no go . Any ideas welcome...b.

Take the spring back out. Put the fork cap on by hand. Now unscrew the fork cap and mark with a sharpie where the cap threads let go. Put the springs back in and rotate the cap so the marks are about 1/4" from each other. Push down and rotate. I you go past where the marks align, stop and try again. Basically mark where the threads start and get it close to the starting point, push and turn.

Thanks Joe, I got it by using the underside of my workbench and a floorjack. Held the leg on top of the jack and touching the lip of my bench, pumped her up till the top nut went into the fork leg. Then turned the leg instead of trying to turn the nut ! Went on sweet as a baby ! Thanks for your advice...b.
