Default Air Suspension conversion

I have a 93 FXRS-conv with the front fork air suspension and the buckhorn handlebars. I want to get away from the buckhorn bars, however unless a custom set of handlebars are built to include the air nipple , no other standard handlebars will work. Can't I convert the current air system to a standard one which will allow considerable more types and styles of handlebars to be used? Anybody know the steps involved in the conversion? I suspect it involves a change of the fork springs to heavier ones and a heavier fork oil, plus the removal of the fork air manifold. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for the assistance!

Default RE: Air Suspension conversion

Okay.....this apparently stumped a few people. I fixed the problem by going with a set of Flanders Mini-Apes with the air res option. Had to wait quite awhile to get them, but the wait was worth it. Solved the whole issue and maintained the integrity of the bike suspension system.
