Default M8 tappet cuff bolts

Hi all, like some advice. I sent $tonecold a pm on this, but would like info from anybody with some input. I am getting ready to do a cam change and also have the S&S tappet cuffs and seen where some have had the cuff bolts break off. Is there one better way to break these loose than another ? They are not in a good place to repair. Or should I just leave stock cuffs in motor? Could be this is a low % fail you never know for sure on a forum. Thanks

Getting the bolt loose is the hardest part. If you can try to unscrew the bolt while the engine is warm and use a little heat can help. If it feels like it's stuck, tap the top with a punch or drift. Once it moves, you need to get a feel for the torque on the bolt. If it feels like it getting tighter, turn it back in a little and squirt wd40 or any penetrant on the threads. Work the bolt back and forth until looser than start to unscrew more. Again if it starts to get tighter repeat the backup process.

BTW: I replaced the lifters on my bike back shortly after the cam was installed at the 1000 mile service. Bike has over 19000 on it now. I was able to break free the bolt but had to work them back and forth slowly to get them out. Hole and bolt got clean and it went back together with blue loctite. Used a 6 point socket on a 3/8 breaker bar..
