every bolt i have tried to take off my bike is on there tight and i mean really tight so far i have striped 3 screws is there anything out they that i could spray on them to lossen the because i am getting pissed spending .50$ on bolts is everyone like this or do i just suck and working on a bike.
Factory Loc-tite requires no heat, it is "service removeable" which means you need tools, bolts nuts will not vibrate loose. If they have been together a loooong time, try PB Blaster, much better than anything else on the market even WD40. Sparay it on threads so it gets "inside 'em", let soak and go at it.
Don't feel bad. I wanted to remove the rear tank bolt and it wouldn't budge. When I felt the bolt twisting, I stopped and decided the tank could stay on there. They must super-glue those threads!
When I put my sissy bar on I used the blue loc-tite, I use it on every thing I put on. They use the red loc-tite. I tried to take my rear passanger foot peg brackets off, so I could put my chrome ones on, and they had red on them, I got all but one out and the dealer got it out.
When I pulled the tank to reroute the throttle cables, the front and back bolts made more noise than a bunch o fellas after a bean eatin contest - like nothin I've ever heared without snappin - but they didn't snap - backrest install and stering stem nuts - all came off as long as you have the correct wrench - WTF is up with both metric and fractionals being on the Harley - jeese anit anything sacred anymore?
I havd been lucky so far (knock on wood, or in molsenice case, a beer). Every bolt that I wanted to take off, came off. I have not used that PB Blaster as ****** suggested. But it does sound better than heating it. If I was you, I would try that. Good luck! Oh yeah, try letting it sit overnite with that stuff on it. Let it sink in.
