Pick up some oil absorbent mat material at a local auto parts store. You can get a roll of the stuff for about 3 bucks, and there is enough to do several oil filter changes. It tears off in sheets about the size of a paper towel. Simply roll it up a little, and place under the oil filter before removing. Any oil spilled will be absorbed in the mat, and not a drop will wind up on the engine case or the floor. Also, the o-rings used on the drain plugs can be purchased online at The O-ring Store for about a nickel apiece. Buy 'em in bulk, and share with your friends!

Get a can of engine degreaser as well...no matter how you try, you're going to spill some somewhere (bike, floor, hands, etc...).

Use aluminum foil under the filter, before you spin it off. Make a "trough" to direct the oil away from your motor mount rubber.
Also...Valvoline?

Anyone else notice the prices on the engine oil change kits offered by HD. Purchasing the items in the kit individually costs less than the kit.

Yes I have noticed this also doesn't make sense you would think you would get a discount buying the whole kit at one time

I'm s fan of Valvoline from my days with '64 Grand Prix back in '90's. My engine guy told me back then that Valvoline had the least additives to make spec. Purer oil. Does that not stand up today?

Are you talking about the clutch cover gasket?
