Arlen Ness Big Sucker vs Hypercharger type
Im not a fan of the hypercharger look and its difficult access to the filter. That being said, the bike runs fine with it. It also has the Power Commander V.
MY DILEMA- with the big sucker I hear a pronounced sewing machine type noise at moderate throttle. Almost like a pressure cooker type pssst. Not to be confused with the suction sound at WOT. This psssst sound is actually quite annoying.
Second dilema- now i feel as the bike doesnt run as good as it was with the previous intake.
Am I missing something here as far as the noise Im hearing? Why would it run like crap now?
Suggestions, comments, jokes welcome please.
Stick to the hypercharger look or trouble shoot the Big Sucker?
But just to be sure , I would double check your gasket and o-rings and make sure they are seated properly and not leaking , could be the cause of the "pssst" you are hearing which could also be the cause of it running a little rough . If you look inside the air cleaner housing you'll see two little holes ( 10 and 2 o clock ) , where the crankcase vents , makes sure they are not blocked and venting properly ( at idle , use your finger and feel for a pulse of air at each hole . I would also check for any other hoses that could be loose , disconnected also .
I'm not familiar with the power commander , but it may need a re-tune , I'm a bit doubtful with this because I have an FP3 which can be tuned properly regardless of what air cleaner is on the bike . Leaning more toward a leak in the system .
Hopefully you get this figured out , others may chime in and add anything I may have missed . Good luck !
Now about that servo motor being exposed .... " I hate that ! If you decide to keep the A.N air cleaner , order your self a Ciro Servo Cover and hide it . It looks pretty awesome and cleans up that side .

And your Chrome cover needs to be rotated clock wise just a bit so the emblem is straight ! ......
I agree with MyFavRk, it sounds like you have a gasket not sealing.
