Have to remove my cooling lowers on my 2016 Limited to change the coolant pump and one of those crappy rivnuts is just spinning in the plastic. How do you get the bolt out? any Ideas?
i will throw this out and see if it sticks.
loc-tite makes an epoxy plastic glue, bonds itself to the plastic chemically. it works pretty good but has a strong odor.
IF you have an area that is hidden and accessible, i would go to a pharmacy and get a syringe and a good size needle, large enough for the glue to be squeeze through. you will have to work quickly but drill a hole in the plastic next to the pop-nut and as you slowly turn the bolt, inject the glue so that the spinning nut carries it around, once you are satisfied with the distribution, let it cure.
I've had luck using a small screwdriver to pry up under the head of the screw while you turn it. Sometimes that can fix the rivnut in place, maybe. Or cut the damn screw and replace both when it goes back together.
