Default Handlebar extension kit

Hey guys so I took off my handlebars today on my 17' Sportster. I'm just a little confused on how this l A choppers extension kit gets attached. I see when my stock wiring harness is attached to the plugs. I'm just not sure where I connect the bare wires and the connector end on the l A choppers extension kit to my stock cables. All cables are still attached to controls and bike but just detached from handlebars. Thanks

Generally, you take the wires out of the OE plug and splice them to the wires on the extensions. They usually are the same color coded wires.

Thanks so the plugs on the extension kit essentially replace the plugs that are on my bike now...in the pic?? The plugs on my bike...in pic...get tossed? Generally speaking?

Yes. See the pic you posted of the wire extensions, the squiggly line going through the OE harness depicts cutting the wire and splicing the new extensions on

Thanks. So right now the control wire are still connected to the blinker, horn, turn signal, ignition etc. housing but removed from handlebars. The other end of these wires are plugged into the harness connectors on the bike. So I guess I have to unplug these control cable pull them out from being supported along bike, cut connectors off feed them though bars, solder to new harness and plug in new harness. Make sense? Thanks.

There no need to disconnect the wires from the blinker, horn, turn signal etc.. housing that attach to handlebars correct? Thanks.

So I guess after I cut the end of this cable I feed through handlebar dress it through the bike and solder to the extension cable? Correct? Thanks

If you don't want to cut, and the bars are not more than 16 inches, KST Kustoms offers a plug in set of cables that work great. I used them on my CVO Limited when installing their 10-inch Mayhem Bagger bars. Made life a heck of a lot easier.

I have no problem soldering. I just want to make sure I'm going about this right.....feeding through bars. As shown in last pic I posted. I don;t need to disconnect from housing. Just cut plug of end and feed that end through bars. Correct? Thanks.

When I did this on my 2013 Road King (not canbus), the wires were not long enough to go through the taller bars. I had to extend the wires by cutting and soldering in extensions before pulling through the bars. I cut the wires and one at a time soldered in extension wires from a kit I bought that had pre-cut wires with the same colors as the stock cables. There was no kit that I could find that had the plugs on the extensions, so I had to solder each wire twice. If the wires will reach through the bars, you can solder after you pull them. If not, solder on the extensions then pull the cables.
