Default No Compression To Front Cylinder

Hey Guys,

I recently took my '02 Dyna apart several times to repaint the whole thing. First time I put the bike back together it worked fine, however, I had to take it apart again to install two new rocker arm assemblies. After putting it back together a second time, I got the following issues:
  • Exhaust pops constantly and backfires when given full throttle
  • HD techs said there is NO compression going to the front cylinder (wanted to tear down and rebuild my engine for $1,000+ - I said "no")
I didn't do anything differently the second time I took apart/rebuilt my bike. No idea why it would all of a sudden give out.

Things I checked:
  • Spark plugs are fine
  • Plug wires are good (both were checked by myself and HD)
  • All fuses are good
I can't find this specific "no compression" issue anywhere after taking apart a bike. Any help would be much appreciated. It's an '02 model but I only just bought it at the end of January from Harley.

Whenever I read a thread like this, the first thing that comes to mind is an incorrectly adjusted pushrod, or a rocker support that was installed incorrectly, causing a bent valve...

Thanks for replying! Could it be as "easy" as checking the rocker support or is there a good chance I broke the valve and will need a new one?

Do you have adjustable pushrods?

I'm not saying I couldn't have made a mistake, I just don't know how I could have installed it incorrectly.

Intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths. Is there a chance you got them reversed?

That is entirely possible and most likely the issue. To be honest, they all seemed to be the same length.

Not a lot of difference, I believe, Ex.= 10.536 in long, In.=10.418 in long.

Then I'm 99.9% sure that happened. Thank you! I'll take a look and let you know if that fixed it.
