I didn't know where to put this. Could be the tire, could be the forks. But this is what I noticed on the trip I just got back from,
Downhill sweepers going 70-80 the tires started to wobble, bounce, and basically felt unstable not planted at all. The tire pressure is good, but I haven't done anything to the folks yet, 38k miles. Wondering if I need to.
Thining of taking to Harley to check the balance, tread is good. Has a pretty good whirl at the time too, maybe normal, not sure.
Thanks guys..
How many miles on the tire? I’d start with the tire, you can take the wheel off and check the static balance or bring it in to the dealer if you’re not comfortable checking it. YouTube will give you some alternatives to use if you don’t have a static balance stand.
Thanks Dawg.. will check it out.
Back tire has around 13500 on it. Front has around 20k on it ? Wow.. didn't realize it has been that long! ha
But looks like the tread is good, don't have the tire tread gauge for it though.
Yeah 20k is getting thin!! My front american elite had a little left at 22k, until I caught a nail....but highly recommend bearings while your in there IMHO....cheap insurance...I change mine at every new tire cycle...good luck!!
Yeah I didn't realize I had that many miles on them. Around town I don't notice any issues. It wasn't until I pushed them in the mountains that I saw an issue.
Thanks guys.. .
I got a tread gauge yesterday and was a little surprised how low the tread really was. To the red in the front and yellow in the back. I've ordered two tires.
Took the air filter off as well. Good god... I'll leave it at that. Plugs look Ok but will replace with filter.
