Talking Softail cross-over headers

l am in the process of returning my 2000 Heritage Springer to an all original cross over muffler system. I went to a Harley dealer in So. Ca. (Quaid Harley) to ask about some parts. When I told the parts guy what my plan was, he told me that Harley "had never come out with a cross-over header system," and proceeded to show me a printout of a parts list which did not even resemble a Springer muffler system, but that of a Heritage Classic. I also have a 2006 Heritage Classic, so I immediately recognized it. I did not want to argue with the guy (not a kid, but a heavily tatted biker type dude). Now, I don't know a whole lot about bikes, but I know my bike had the original cross over system. Also, I have seen hundreds of pictures of Springers dating from 2000 to 2007 with cross over muffler systems. Am I wrong on this?

Interesting ... the only exhaust showing when I look up for a FLSTS is a crossover system

You are correct, the crossover exhaust is shown on the microfiche, but it depends on which online microfiche you look at, seems to be some conflict.

Maybe the guy didn`t look at the right model.

I think the FXSTS and FLSTS are mixed up on Ronnies website in the drop down after you select year.

Yes, I've did an extensive search of Ronnie's Parts just to confirm that I was not full of it. I also looked at lots of pictures and contacted owners who were selling their Springers with cross overs, and they assured me they were stock. You would think that someone who works the parts counter would know that Harley made many models and smart enough to know that a blanket statement of "Harley never made any cross overs," would not stand the test of time. Ok. I vented. Pheew!!
