Under the heading of DUMB *** QUESTION OF THE MONTH..........
Over a decade my friend Deek says, anytime you tighten a SCREW (NOT A BOLT) but a SCREW on your bike like the Troq Screw (bolt?) holding this windshield band in place, you must BRUSH (when you are done tightening) the head of the Torq SCREW with WD-40 or it will rust.
.
THIS specifically.
.
I am not a wrencher and I do not know the correct answer. I 'juss don't wanna hear this sh*t for another 10 years.
We live in a dry environment, So I don’t have a rust issue. But, I stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night so I have an opinion. WD40 does not prevent rust. If you want to coat with something to prevent rust, use a silicone based lube. But, you’d have to recoat after every rain or washing.
