Bike wont start 012 switchback
I just added new bars and extended the wires. Now I'm having all kind of issues. The bike won't start, won't go through the test mode, the high beam switch don't work the horn won't blow, can't get in the test mode for the codes. It seems not to be communicating with the computer. I know it has a can system in it. Can changing the size of the wires or just adding new wire and soldering in between the two original sections leading to the switches have any thing to do with all my troubles ? I have tested continuity from where I added the new wire and all seems good. I'm stumped please help? One more thing I tested the voltage to the red wire going to the shut down switch and it seems to have battery voltage there., But the bike will not even crank.

The simple answer would seem to be a wiring error. Yes on a CANBUS system wiring resistance could have some effect but probably not to the degree you are experiencing. As I have often found in my projects taking pictures of before and in the case of wiring taking before voltage readings proves very helpful when things don't work at the projects end. Begin by inspecting all exposed wire connections, if no issues are found remove the bars to inspect the internal wiring extensions.
