How new? If you have warranty run it by the dealer and let them have a look.
Definitely looks to be coming from under the hose connection. Flawed oring or loose fitting?
again if its under warranty.......
It's brand new. Only 5 miles on the odometer - the first test ride the tech did before delivering it (it's winter here). Dealer looked at picture and said it's assembly lube, but, does assembly lube look and feel just like motor oil?
Sure it could be and looks like SE type assembly lube. Although not sure why its required there. Clean it off and keep an eye on it. Youll know before long.
I would take a wrench to it and try and snug it up and then clean it off and keep an eye on it. Don't mention you did anything to it if it has to go to the dealer.
Spray a little brake clean around that and keep an eye on it. I would not advise to clean it off, start it and let it run a few times. I would clean the area and let it sit. When the weather is agreeable, check to make sure it's still dry, go for a short 5-10 mile ride and check when you get back home. If still leaking, go back to dealer.
I would also recommend you buy the service manual and the parts manual. Both are great reference for you when you work or do something. And I also recommend you get a three ring binder and record all your maintenance, repairs, services, accessories, etc. Nice way to keep track of things.
It doesnt require clamping torque as its just a fitting. Id guess drain plug torque should be fine 14-21 ft.lbs
but clean it off first and see if it even still leaks.
