Default Power Vision and WinPV Question

Bike is running fine but I was playing with the Power Vision Tuner and WinPV software and did a Compare File between the Original and a "canned" tune when purchased. I see several Tune Items present on the Original Tune that I do not see on the canned tune. Can I assume the parameters from the original tune are in the canned tune even though I can not see them or change them? For instance under Limits and Switches Original Tune I see Active Compression Release is set to 1 which is on. When I open the "canned" tune Active Compression Release is not a parameter that I can see or change.

When I connect the Power Vision to the bike (2014 FXDB) and look at the Quick Tune I do see ACR on even though the canned tune is uploaded on the bike. I thought this was odd and wondered if the other settings I do not see on WinPV still exist on the ECM, if figure they must but wanted to see what others with more experience say.

I am new to EFI and Power Vision but have several tunes currently on my PV that I have compared and have not found discrepancy's like that. I would call who you purchased the PV from or who ever loaded the tune and ask them..

Your canned tune was done with an older version of Power Vision and it is missing those settings. Your ECM will use the values in the previously loaded tune for those settings. You should load the canned tune over your stock tune.

If you read back the canned tune right after you load it you will get back all of the ECM's current values. Numerous values in your VE and Closed Loop Bias tables may change because the ECM will round off values in these tables. BTW - VE rounding also occurs after an Autotune session.

Your best bet is to always read back your tune right after you load it to the ECM.

Once you start changing and upgrading from stock by adding modifications as you have done, it is beneficial to have the bike dyno tuned. It will be money well spent. Having the bike dyno tuned by a good tech will allow for the bike to be dialed in specifically in the areas where the bike needs attention. There will always be nay sayers but in my experience I had my 08 ultra dyno tuned by a very good tuner out of Gardner Mass.(Rob's Dyno Service) and he manipulated each area of the bike until he was happy that he was able to get the most out of my bike. Good luck with your bike.
