Battery wires melting terminal

Default Battery wires melting terminal
I just had to replace the inner main bearing on my 95 Electra glide classic,I disconnected the starter to clean it and now when I connect everything and try to connect the wires to the battery terminals they want to melt. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?
the starter main post has the positive, negative and fuse wire. The bolt that connects the starter to the inner cover has the ground wire and the pig ear wires(not sure what they are) connect to the clip on starter

Bad ground connections will cause the positive cable to over heat at it’s weakest point, yours is the battery post.

Follow the negative cable from battery to other end.

well, check the main cable since you moved them. there could be a failure in the insulation on the wire and now is grounding out.

Ok yeah I’m going to take a look at the wires and see if there is an issue with them.

Did I read this right?

A Positive wire and a Negative wire connected to the starter main post?

The blue circle has the positive and negative battery wires and a wire routed to the 12v40a fuse. The yellow circle has the ground wire that’s connected to the frame. And the clip has the wiring to the switch.

Could this fuse be blown and cause the arching when trying to connect the battery wires

And that’s the ground wire that connects from The rear starter bolt to the frame
