I have a 2006 road king…
I almost always put the king in neutral when I shut it off. But last week I must have forgot when I stopped to fuel up. After fueling I put kick stand up, turned on ignition and pressed starter button without clutch being pulled and it lunged forward a couple strokes. It was almost and embarrassing moment of dropping it. I did it a second time to make sure it was not just a fluke. I did not have clutch pulled in.
Is this normal??
Every Harley I've owned up til my current 2017 Road Glide Ultra would start in gear!!! Not sure what year HD implemented the safety switch but even now, I never start my bike without the clutch in and the bike in neutral. I don't like starting it, even KNOWING its in neutral, without pulling the clutch in first.
