Franchise laws came about because a long time ago when dealerships were a new thing these new dealerships didn’t want to have to complete against manufacturers to sell cars. What we ended up with are multiple subsidiaries within the same company that manufacture, buy and sell the vehicles. To say that the money somehow doesn’t flow up stream is ridiculous. You stick to warranties and gap insurance, I’ll handle the cars.

You haven't a clue about how dealerships operate. Read up on franchise laws governing automobile dealerships. Google will get ya started. No dealership is a subsidiary of the manufacturer.

In case I missed it tell me again how many dealer franchise agreements you've signed in your capacity as a design engineer.

if a mfg can’t influence market value, why have holdbacks to inflate the cost of a new car?

Again I ask, how many dealer franchise agreements have you signed?

Absolutely. Have halted several things due to this crazy gouging scheme going on with everything. I'm out - will sit and watch, wait till things get back to normal.

[QUOTE=heritageblue2013;20161115]Stop in to my local HD dealer yesterday.
$999.00 appearance package and $500.00 HD market adjustment was added to the price.

As others have said "free market" that`s fine, I get it.

The same free market should apply to the online parts discounters ( Surdyke etc. ) instead of being forbidden by the MOCO

I don’t mind a market adjustment if the product is worth it. I’m not paying more for products which I don’t think are worth it in the first place. I bought a 2012 FLHTK instead of a 2020 FLHTK because it went up $4k in 6 months for a used one.

I was looking for a new car, but they were either in short supply or overpriced. I’ll drive my rusty truck until it blows up, or falls apart. I’m not paying $55k to have a nicer looking truck with a shorter bed.

You got that right. I can build a rental house for $140K that returns $1,400 / month in rent. I don’t understand $55k trucks.
