Exclamation Bouncing Front Fairing, Help!

Hello all! I just joined this forum, but bought my first HD in 2019 (2019 HD Street Glide Special), a little late in life, but I've been riding off and on my whole life. Here is my problem...I swapped out my bars myself recently. I got everything buttoned up but my
front fairing (not the outer fairing, the WHOLE fairing) is bouncing up and down as if there is something not bolted down. The only bolts that I am aware of that hold the fairing to the frame are the four bolts where the front passing lamps are on the forks (two on each side) and the two screws that hold the plastic cap that the aux switches can be mounted.

Is there something that I am missing? The only other thing that I've done involving the front fairing is my fairing speakers were swapped out...maybe the techs missed something? The bike is rideable but it's scary as hell watching the entire fairing bounce when going down the road and I'm sure it's not healthy for the rest of the connections/bolts. I sure would appreciate any advice/help on this. I do NOT want to take my bike to HD as A). I am trying to learn/maintain my own bike and B). HD charges WAY too much!

Thanks all! Ride safe!

CJ

Have you removed the outer fairing and looked to see what is loose??????

The 4 double studs at the turn signal mounts are what fastens the fairing bracket to the steering stem assembly.

There are also fasteners that attach the fairing to the brackets....

Dan, Thanks for the help.
I have literally removed the outer fairing about 5 times now. I've also removed the four double studs and re-inserted them just to make sure.
I'm not sure about the fasteners that you're talking about, but I've also just started wrenching on my over the last year or so.
I'm going to take a look at it again when I get off work, it's killing me.

Pop the outer cover off, then follow the mounting brackets up from the double studs, you will see the bolts that fasten the fairing to the bracket.

Give the fairing a gentle shake and you should see the problem.

Dan, just a quick update...I pulled the outer fairing again. I found three screws/bolts on each side. Pulled on the fairing to see if I could find something loose/broken and no luck.
I am going to have to pull some wires/harnesses out of the way this weekend, make sure everything is tight. I couldn't really see the brackets themselves, but didn't see them move.
When I pull everything out this weekend, hopefully I won't find a broken bracket, but the bike is still under warranty, so worse case I'll take her down to HD.

I have had my fairing completely off a few times and never had this problem. Sounds like bolts aren't in the holes but who knows. I do know it's hard to get those holes to line up.

I've never had the fairing completely off which is why I am concerned. I've put new bars on the bike, so my fairing was rotated toward the front in order to
get to the risers. As far as the bolts that go to the fairing brackets, I have no clue. They've never been touched (to my knowledge). I did upgrade my speakers, but not sure that the crew that did it touched those bolts. As I told Dan above, they look like they're in there. I need to do some more investigating once I move some of the wires to get access to them. I sure as hell hope it's just some loose bolts!

Thumbs up Bouncing front fairing, help update!!

So I finally managed to fix my own problem. Turns out, according to Dan89FLSTC, there are three bolts that go through the fairing brackets (on each side). I am a newbie to working on my what is my first HD so I didn't know this.
When I removed the outer fairing I did finally find these bolts. The bolts that sit lowest in the bracket were not even finger tight!!! So, of course I tightened them up and guess what? No more bouncing fairing lol!
Thanks to those who commented, it really helped this FNG...Every time I do something on my bike I learn something new, and usually the hard way. Ride safe y'all!
