Default Help Harley Historians

Pardon my aliteration but, any of you HD historians know what was the first year they began stamping serial or VIN #s on frames and engines? Just some trivia me and a friend were discussing the other day. Thanks in advance for your help.

Frame VINs started around 1969 or 1970, I think. Ain't sure of the exact year, though. Time to Google.

Just back from Googling. Up through 1969, engine numbers. Starting in 1970, frames had VIN numbers.
