the newer battery testers use a/c current to determine state of charge and battery capacity. the a/c charges the plates and the drains the plates and the processor determines rate of charge and decay. newer electronics use this method of charge on cordless chargers. if i had a new fangled h/f charger, i would put it on my sencor scope. the only experience with the newer smart charger was not a good one, it failed in short order, used it to maintain my tow vehicle battery.
all said and done, since the alarm is connected to the battery, it probably is picking up the ripple and the battery plates are doing the same.
