Default Sticky throttle

The throttle on my 2008 Road King CVO is sticking wherever I let go of it (just above idle, half throttle, or full throttle).. It does it running or not that's why I think it might be in the handle bar grip. Bike does have throttle by wire though. Is there a return spring in the handle bar grip?.

Doesn't appear to be. Maybe your throttle lock is dragging? No 8 in picture. Back it all the way out. May be just dirt in there too. Otherwise I'd be looking at the throttle body and controls.

I don't have a no 8. Would the throttle body itself stick even with the ignition off?

The throttle body has nothing to do with this if your grip is sticky. If it were me, I would disassemble it and see if the twist grip sensor is hanging with the grip removed. If it does, you could try some electrical contact cleaner and see if that might free it up. If that doesn't work, replace it. If it isn't the twist grip sensor hanging up, lightly sand the bar where the grip contacts it with 2000 grit sandpaper, thoroughly clean, then lube with silicone lube spray. If all that fails, the grip itself may have malformed and needs replaced.

Let us know what you find out. Good luck.

I have found that sometimes if you knock the throttle enough, you may push into the bar. There needs to be some clearance between the bar end and the inside end of the grip. Try loosening the grip assembly and pulling it outward so you have maybe 1/16-1/8" clearance between the bar end and grip. Push the grip in towards the bar, then back it out slightly. This may help.

Short answer is not likely. Strange, the photo is from Ronnie's Microfiche for an '08 Road King.

Is it different because it's a CVO? The pic I sent is from an '08 RK.
