Can I borrow your "Hot" wife for a few days? I promise I won't touch her.

So eagle riders takes care of all the risk?
I doubt you will get enough rentals to make it worth it, especially on a sporster unless in a busy tourist area. Since you don't care about the bike, its not like you are renting your main bike out.

I think selling is the best thing. But I don't rent houses and many people I know do. Long game vs short.

5000/50/12= is 8 days a month to make your money up in a year. You are going to have more maint. I don't think a XL will rent well, maybe to people new to harleys, but those are the people you want. So if you rent a bigger bike, you need to rent it out more.

I talked to a indie who had some bikes in a tourist town, and rented, and rode them when they when they were available.

I don't even let friends sit on my bike never mind turning it lose with a stranger for a couple of bucks. Besides, I doubt your insurance would pay if a renter smashed it up causing property damage and or personal injury. That would leave you as the owner on the hook to pay up. It would be cheaper and less risk to give the bike away and if you decide to go that way let me know.

He doesn't care about the bike it is this or selling it.

as he said eagle rider handles insurance. But I would investigate.

Sounds to me a bit like uber, eagle rider will set things up, and you show up with a bike.

Again I would probably just sell it, but I am, not into renting, some are.

they cover a million dollars and up two 25k of damage.

For some people this could be a money maker. Buy a bike to rent or one you are going to sell anyways. But it has to be the right bike, model and age. Which will drive your costs up.

No, I don't. After hearing "Who cares, it's a rental" from a friend of mine, who rented a bike, sums it up.

This would always be my concern. But what are they really going to do? redline and hard braking. So brakes, belt and engine life. Not minor, but I think more important no to buy a rental.

If I had a bike that used oil, I would not rent it.

The problem I see, is you probably need a 15-20k bike to rent it out enough to make it worth it. But now you are renting out a $15k bike too.

If somehow you could get enough rentals on XL, sure, beat the hell out of it, it is only worth 5k. But I wouldn't do this to just rent it out a couple times month.
