Gremlin bell 'rules'

Default Gremlin bell 'rules'
I know it's all for fun but, the 1200 I recently bought has the original owner's gremlin bell still attached.

Should I remove it, leave it, will it 'protect' me or is it bad juju to expect someone else's bell to provide protection?

What is the 'official' rule concerning this?

Just do whatever you want, it is just a bell someone hung on the bike.

Anything more than that is ridiculous.
