What is the 'official' rule concerning this?
1. The 1st official rule is you have to listen to the song below 5 times, hop on your left foot 3 times counterclockwise, then hop on your right foot 3 times clockwise, then you can reuse the gremlin bell.
2. The 2nd official rule is that you don't put your gremlin bell on in addition to the previous owners bell as they will cancel each other out.
3. The 3rd official rule is when you remove the previous owners gremlin bell to put yours on there, you must store it in a little silk bag in your garage tool box and re-gift it to someone.
4. The 4th official rule is there are no rules.

Also in today's news: Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow in front of thousands of spectators Friday morning at Gobbler's **** in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, part of the annual Groundhog Day tradition celebrated in the U.S. and Canada. That means, according to the legend, we're in for an early spring.

NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.

Leave it, don't jinx yourself. I had two Gremlin Bells given to me. Both had been on my 18' Fatboy. When I traded the Fatboy in last year, both bells were missing. My thought, they knocked the Gremlins out of the way as I never had an accident on that bike.

I give a gremlin bell to my riding buddies. Just shows I care about them and hope we are all safe. I know those little bastids can't jump into those under speed!
And as far as the ground piggy goes, I just read this on the internet, so it must be true. And spring will get here when it gets here.
Now, what page in the service manual was that on???

If you want to reuse it, you'll need to have a Exorcism performed on it first.
This could be costly and there's pea soup involved.

The bell keeps the Road Gremlins off yer bike. HOWEVER, as the New Owner, it's a TRADITION to update it for keeping your bike Gremlin free!

but remember it has to be gifted. You can’t buy your own! Very bad juju and catastrophic consequences could result!

This right here is the best reason to gift a Gremlin bell to a friend. They are just for fun, but the junk yard is full of wrecked bikes with bells hanging in them.
