I dont believe in fairies or gremlins, so a bell is just a bell.
That said, when I got this bike, a Harley friend from Texas came to spend a few days with me and brought a genuine Texas lone star bell. As a gift from a fellow rider, I attached it on the bar between the front frame tubes. Its been all over the USA and Canada. Two up and solo. Coast to coast, Gulf of Mexico to gulf of Maine, Alaska to Florida and this is only the fourth time Ive thought of the bell. Once prior in a similar HD forum discussion and three times when talking to Texas Bob, who gave me the bell. Once he retired, we dont talk often and riding doesnt come up very often anymore as he had to sell his bike/divorce/forced retirement all bang, bang, bang.
I have given two ride bells to new riders over the years. One I made myself and the other came on a bike I purchased and I refurbished both the bike and the bell, but the bell went to a friend.
Thus endiths my bell history, with out a tinkle or clang.
Oh, it matters not what you do about the bell. Now, if you feed your mogwai after midnight, you might be not only a redneck, but you might need a bell.
There is face cord delivered here every week for peoples bums.
But this is question I never heard
Myself any chance I'd contact the guy, he may want back for sentimental reasons
I was told by the salesman at IndyWest HD the dealer group they are a part of bought the bike from an estate sale, so I assume the original owner had passed away.
Obviously he/she didn't ride it much as it's a '17 with only a little over 11,000 miles on it. The dealer I bought it from, IndyWest HD showed the 10,000 mile service was done 18 months ago at the dealer the original owner bought it from up at Michigan City HD. So in a year and a half it only had slightly over 1,000 miles put on it. Michigan City HD and IndyWest HD are part of the same dealer group.
