Riding boots recommendation.

Speed hooks are flimsy, but otherwise good
I paid ~ $108 for these, and I generally pay $200+ for quality boots. I ride an electric unicycle at 30 mph+ speeds and needed something to protect my ankles. These are sturdy, stylish, and protective. However, the two pairs of "speed hooks" at the top of each boot were really flimsy/malleable, and one broke off within my first week of light usage. I paid a cobbler $70 to replace them all with higher quality, sturdier hooks. So, ultimately, I'm paying ~~ $180 for quality, stylish motorcycle

So, yes you will find cheaper Chinese made, throw away boots. But after throwing out serval pair of them, in the long run the Danners,Wesco, Nicks or Whites are money well spent, IMO. Quality has a price tag.
Actually there are much more expensive boots than any I listed above.

Work just got me a new pair of boots from Florsheim. I'm loving the things so far, very little break in and they're comfortable as hell. Only problem I'm having is they're lower, and I'm not used to having the back of the boot ride on my Achilles anymore, so that's making it a little annoying after all day on the feet. Just got another 3 inches of snow last night, so no riding report on them yet sadly
I also wear boots from Red Wing, Nick's Boots, and Frank's Boot Company.
The boots that this thread is about look like slave-labor produced garbage. They are obviously glued together but have stitching to make them look like a Goodyear welt construction boot but as you can see in the picture, the outsole is not sewn to anything so the stitching is only there to make you think that these are something other than what they are, which is glued together garbage, aka, "cemented construction." Just look at the picture below and tell me where those stitches go? Answer: nowhere. I can't figure out the country of origin but China is high on my list of suspects.
Compare that to this, where the stitching goes through the lower part of the upper, midsole, and outsole. Additionally, the soles are glued on and screwed to the midsole. This is called "stitchdown" construction. The Danners mentioned above are 360 degree stitchdown construction and you can see they have the stitching all the way around the boot in the same manner. And that's not even mentioning the materials. These are Frank's Boot Company Type 2 Highlanders, but I only picked them because they were literally the closest pair of boots to where I am sitting; I'm fortunate to have a whole closet full of well constructed, quality, American-made boots.
You spend half of your life in your bed and the other half in your boots. Cheap boots are not good.

They more than pay for themselves over time especially when you are throwing away two to three pairs of cheap made Chinese boots every couple of years,if that.

I love my American made boots and I hope the Daytonas live up to the standards my American made boots have set.
