The idea to install a spiral binding is a good one. However, I don't even want the paper. I LOVE the electronic copies of the manuals. That is ALL I use. I have a dedicated laptop and a dedicated separate computer in my shop. And I can review either of them on my phone or iPad. I can search for keywords, and get through WAY faster than on paper. I no longer use any paper manuals in my shop unless I have no other option - and for smaller ones, I scan them to digital immediately.
Welcome from Atlanta!
Yea, in one day the MOCO went from $60 to $150. I remember because I ordered one for my 1200 on day 2 of the new "surprise" pricing. They really don't want us working on our bikes.
I downloaded mine & took a thumb drive to Kinkos. It was something like $115 for them to print & 3-hole punch it. Inflation, and California's attempt at paying entry level workers a wage to support a family has doubled the price of a lot of things.
Just bought my latest and fourth Harley, a 2024 Road Glide. Being a retired mechanic, I do 99% of my own work. Always good to have the latest service manual, torque specs and some procedures can be tricky. I ordered a manual the other day, Harley jumped the price to $150. Not one to complain much, but seriously? I might have paid $60 for the last one in 2015, I inquired at the stealer, their labor rate is $129 an hour. If Harley thinks gouging me on a book will deter me, they're sadly mistaken. I'll make that up on the first hour+ job that they don't get.
For my 2019 FLHTP, I bought the service manual, electrical service manual, parts manual, police supplement and the police owners manual. All OEM. The total cost was under $300 with a couple purchases from eBay. That's 2 hours HD dealership, or 3 hours indie, labor costs in my area. They have already saved me double the money I spent.
