On a bike like the one in your avatar I would completely agree, especially with bars that are taller than 10”.

On my touring bike though, with full upper and lower fairings, 12” windshield, and near-stock height bars, the extended mirrors don’t stand out as much so it’s an acceptable compromise of style to gain better visibility.

Default Mirrors

+1 on what MurphCC1 said =

"I add the 2" convex mirrors to the stock ones, wider view in a pinch, vehicles right next to me are visible."

Most auto parts stores carry them and some motorcycle shops too. Easy and effective.

I put the mirrors under the bars. Much better for me. Also added a camera DVR with front / rear cameras and have the screen always on the rearview cam. I really only use that at lights though, to make sure the car behind me is slowing down.

I couldn't see **** out of my stock fairing mirrors. I had to constantly turn to look. Felt dangerous. When I changed to 10" bars & stem mirrors it was a huge difference & I'm comfortable with this setup. From past experience if the blind spot mirror is too small it's useless. You don't want to avoid doing head checks anyways.

I am 6'7" and run the long stem aftermarket mirrors on my ElectraGlide. The stock police HD mirrors are flat mirrors I could not get used to.
