Default Dropping or falling

I dropped my sportster at least twice from standing still or stop sign. The reason is i have weak right leg because i had a stroke 10 years ago and still weak. I just bought a second bike it’s softail fatboy. If i drop it, it’s a bigger bike than sportster. I did well in 13 years since i had stroke and i dropped it only twice. I was thinking of having a legup landingear but it’s too expensive. Any suggestions? Thinking of having right hand stand too for my weak leg

I never really thought about this until you mentioned it, but I’d have to say I rarely put my right leg down at a stop, and I’m on a 850# Street Glide.

Have you tried to keep weight on the left leg only?

I hate to make statements or ask questions as a fully able-bodied person, so please know I understand your limitation.

Lean left and keep the right on the peg/brake. My right doesn't typically go down unless I'm adjusting myself on my seat.

Both bikes you mentioned are fairly top heavy. May want to consider a heritage. Very low center of gravity.

I put both feet on the ground when stopped.

on a long stop I do as well, but with a bad right hip, I’m 70/30 left/right. On a hill, I hold my position with the rear brake.

ive dropped both sides…..wife leans and points forgetting passenger rule number one, slow or stopped, shut up and stay in line. She does not do that anymore and we are both happier for it. But solo rider, he just needs to practice a slow smooth stop and putting just the right leg down. Not hard, unless you never practiced it. A lazy rider uses both feet. Might be an expert rider or a novice, but the only time I might consider both down when stopping is gravel.

This is not a case for a trike. At least in my book. Balance is the main trike reason, unusable leg is the other. (Veteran, amputee, severe diabetes, etc.) That’s why I admire trike riders, I figure they are dealing with a lot worse than my issues.

"A lazy rider uses both feet." In your eyes. I love when others criticize how others ride. You sound like that guy on YouTube who tells people that if they don't ride like him, that you don't know how to ride. Why do I put both feet down, because at one time or another my foot has slipped on the oily pavement. Especially when the summer heat if baking the blacktop making it slippery.

I’m 6’3’ 220lbs, decent shape for an old fart, and use both legs.

Lazy? Whatever, I don’t care what others think. I’ve been using both legs since I was riding minibikes in 1968.
