throwing money away? i have a bike i don't enjoy riding so it either sits in the garage or i do something to fix it. there's no "jerkiness" with the throttle at all. although the handgrip rotates smoothly and it accelerates and decelerates smoothly, i cannot keep it at constant setting when i get up to a desired speed. i think the handgrip needs more tension on it

Just a thought, are the handlebars stock? Im wondering if they are aftermarket, if the notch that the TBW thing rides in, on the end of the handlebar, is too wide, causing the housing to move back and forth, hence your inability to maintain a constant speed, yet works good with cruise.

Just trying to make sense of the situation that you are describing. While trying to fix my problem. Moving the "clamshell" in and out. I got too much end play on the throttle. It would accelerate ok. Then like lose speed. The gears on the end of throttle assembly and hand grip would become disengaged. Push on grip and gears would mesh and throttle again. If yours accelerates and decelerates smoothly it should keep desired speed. Mine was more clear cut. I knew that the TBW was fuvked.
That's all I got. Good Luck.

There is a procedure to reset the TBW. i can't remember exactly how to do it, but might be worth a shot?
