Indeed it is....a commute from Auburn Hills to home in Eastpointe will be nice.
If anyone wants to know where Eastpointe is, think Detroit. Now imagine Detroit had a protective coating, like some aspirin does. Eastpointe is part of that protective coating that keeps nicer cities away from Detroit.
The Interstate Highway System, formed in 1956, connects the continental United States from coast to coast east to west and north to south. The farthest point from an interstate in the entire United States would be in Alaska wouldn't it? Nope, it's in Michigan.
Yes, Michigan, with its 13 different Interstate trunk lines totaling 1239 miles, also boasts the one spot on the maps that's farther than anywhere else from an Interstate. That spot is the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula in Copper Harbor in Michigan's rural Upper Peninsula.
Copper Harbor and Eagle Harbor, are the farthest towns in the continental United States from an Interstate Highway, and they look the part, like an artist's sketches for Hemingway's stories of the Upper Peninsula. Eagle Harbor has a population of 76, Copper Harbor 108.

Just finished plotting/planning this years cross country trip last week. 69 days and 15,000+/- miles of motels and AirBnB's. Headed to Acadia NP in Maine as our farthest point. But, when Larry posted this tidbit of info, it sounded familiar! I looked at out Day Trip route for 8/10/25, and sure as ****, I have us going right through there, (both Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor), from our AirBnB in Marquette! Never been in that area, hence the route through there, and NOW, I'm looking forward to it even MORE!! Thanks for the thread @Uncle Larry !!
