I've been with Geico on my bike for several years. When I switched over to the 05 Ultra, I called and they quoted me $497 per year which is 100/300/100, 2000 med pay, 25/50 Under insured, and $50 deductible on Comp and collision.
I thought though being off for the holday, I would call around. here's what I found - all coverages comparable with Geico (or as close as I could get)...
GEICO - $497 per year
Harley Davidson Insurance (through Progressive) $1,861 per year
Progressive quote online $1,161 per year
State Farm (where I have my autos) $616 per year
VERY wide range, needless to say, I'll stick with Geico.
WOW! What a range! My insurance guy typically pushes FIG, but for my motorcycle (Night Train) and boat (Boston Whaler) he went through Progressive. With my riding training course discount my rate is $457... It sounded pretty fair to me for 100/300/100, 2000 medical, Uninsured, and $50 deductible.
Not knowing your age, or record- found the State Farm quote unusually high. They go strictly on CC of Bike and I pay much less than that for our Screaming Eagle Deuce (More CC and HIGHER PRICE). I have high coverages (Liability), but waived the medical since we have Blue Cross/Shield. Thye have 2 different rates, one for standalone and one for add on vehicle. IT sounds like they keyedthis bike in as stand alone- because that is what they quoted me before I moved the Hummer with them.
Geico couldn't touch 'em and yes- Harley is on drugs!
If you have a history with a company, their rates will beat anyone elses...I recently went through this with USAA...Geico can't touch 'em...I called and tried a bunch. I even told the other agents what I was getting...one of them finally explained it to me, longevity without problems equals lower payments.
Steve, I haven't checked with them yet, because I am still in the getting ready to buy stage, but my dealer says that recommend Shelter and that they have great rates. Just FYI. Art
