I recently received a 1977 Ironhead XLT free as part of a trade. It doesn't have a motor or transmission.
I was wondering what new makes of motors (S&S, etc) would fit this frame. Any suggestions would be great. If you any direct links to engine sellers/builders that would be great!
I've done a little research and it looks like nothing is being made that will fit this frame. I'm not really eager to do a rebuild and put a AMF motor into this bike. Are there any frame mods that would work to put a new motor in it? (moving motor mounts, etc)
I'm not really looking to get rid of it.. I can get a stock motor for it and have it rebuilt. I just wanted to put something bigger/custom in it. I'll shop around for a welding/frame shop that has done this type of work before and see what my options are. I was just hoping someone on here could recommend someone.
