Have any of you riders taken the safety course and if so, what did you think? Thanks.

I know in our area (n. utah)the course is pretty basic, kinda defensive driving with cones.
watch out for the other guy is the best advise if you have miles under your belt.

I recently talked to a guy who attended our state run course (Ohio). He said it was very good. They really spent a lot of time on defensive driving and evasive techniques. He said it was worth it...

I just took the course at the Harley dealer here in Orlando. Best thing I did. Three of their instructors are active motorcycle cops. After 25 years of being away from riding I wanted a couple of things out of the course..... endorsement for license, insurance discount but most important was to level set my head and learn/revalidate skills.

For me, it was a great decision. Harley gives some perks for the class, $75 off a bike purchase, $40 in HOG bucks and a 24 hr free rental to try different bikes.

Cheers...Dennis

Dennis, if you don't mind my asking, "What were you charged for your road test in Orlando?"

It would be interesting to compare charges from around the Country/World.

Did you mean course or test? If you meant test, ours are free here in Ohio...

For a test, one can take that at the Florida DMV and I there is not a charge for that...just real long lines & delays. Small fee for adding the bike endorsement since they reprint your license.

The MSF done at Harley has a straight test for your license endorsement for $85. I took the soup to nuts course, 15 hours (5 classroom & 10 on their track). That was $280 & I get back $125. After you pass the tests, class & track, take your MSF card to the DMV & for $15 you get the bike endorsement added to your license.

Cheers...Dennis

Fabulous MSF course here in Missouri. Depending on where you take it, costs run about $!75 (county parks or Community College). Even though I had ten years of ridiing experience (from several years ago), I found lots of bad habits I needed to correct, plus lots of new skills I didn't even know I needed. Standouts: turns with the SLPR approach. Sharp slow turns with REALLY turning your head to watch where you want to go, not what's right in front of you; general defensive riding tactics.

Good luck - you won't regret it.
