Bike will just shut off

Same thing with me today
My 91 1200 sporty died 6 times in 20 miles today. It seemed to happen as
I was in 3rd gear. You I would leave a sopt sign and bring the RPM;s up and shift then again, then as I would level off in 3rd or 4th. anout 40 mph. the bike would just quit. I pull over, turn the key off, put it in N and it would fire right up. Go down the road a bit and it would do it again. BTW I have a full tank of hi test, and tried the fule valve on...ON and RES.

Check the main hot wire (located under the seat the one coming from the breaker) to see if it's getting hot. Had this problem with a buddy's bike. He took it to two diff. dealers they couldn't find the problem. I found a spot about 3" long that was getting hot. I cut the bad place out and replace with a little bigger wire. He has not had any more problems with it since. Good luck and let us know how it comes out.

Seems like the "breaker" had poped out of it's holder, maybe it was shorting causeing the bike to quit. Thanks. Will "test" it soon.

jw1200, Is it dying instantly or sputtering to a stop? if it sputters a little, like it's running out of gas, check to see that you have good fuel flow going into the carb, not that you have a fuel filter in the line that is restricted or a fuel tank that isn't vented properly

It dies instantly, and the tach goes nuts. I'm told it is the
timing sensor. I will put one on next week. I hope that is the
only problem. Got layed off and $ tight.

I replaced the ignition timing sensor plate, did it myself, took 2 hrs. everything seems to be fine now. Thanks for all the help guys.

2000 ultra suhts down while driving
I have a 2000 ultra classic. Only 10K mi on it. I was low on fuel, as the light just came on. I passed a moped, and upon getting back into my lane she shut down completely. No power to anything. I was going about 40mph. I turned into a car lot. Stopped the bike. Turned the ign to off, then back on, she light up and away I went. What could this be from? Not the first time it happened. Maybe bad gas from last year? Plus getting low on fuel? Bank angle sensor? I just filled it up with fresh gas, I will see if that was it. Will post soon.
