Flat tire question

well, I plugged it and it leaking from the valve stem now. I thought it was just the nut holding the valve stem on was loose but after tightening it it still leaks. I just got around to taking off the rim and taking it up to my local shop for a fix. The guy said he's going to put a tube in but has to order it. Since it's a spoke rim it either has a tube or a rubber band around the rim where the spokes are mounted. I'm thinking it has a tube and that's why the plug didn't fix the leak. Air is seeping out of the tube, into the tire and out the valve stem. Make since to me. I'll have no problem reusing the tire after the tube is replaced.
