Default I have a problem that needs help

My '07 RK Classic has 1700 miles on it and I just returned home from the dealers service department after the first 1000 mile service. I rode approximately 56 miles and as I was coming to a stop just before getting into my home town, I pulled on the brake lever to disengaged the cruise but it didn't turn the cruise control off. To prevent running into the back of a car in front of me, I pulled on the clutch lever first and then turned the engine off. I suppose I could have done just the opposite but in either case, I need to find out what caused the cruise to stay engaged. I guess anything's possible. I may not have pulled on the brake lever hard enough but I test rode it again around my hometown bypass and it did it once again while I was paying particular attention to pulling the brake lever far enough back to have felt the brakes starting to apply. I've already called the service department and they told me that what I experienced would be next to impossible. Anyone have any idea?

this may sound stupid, but you've got an 07 with 1,700 miles on it? that works out to just over 500 miles per year. had you considered that being as it has cables for the throttle, that they've perhaps become a bit oxidized at the ends? i'd try lubing the throttle cables to ensure that they're sliding freely rather than hanging up like it sounds as they're doing, which in effect, is probably causing the problems with your cruise control acting up. a good place to start is to lube the cables properly and make sure they slide as they are intended rather than sticking. hope this helps you with your problem.
