Title and Registration issues
I bought a florida bike that had a "certificate of destruction" and before I had bought the bike I checked w/the local title station and they told me it would be ok and would be titled as a salvage which I was ok with as I just want to ride it I was not looking to scam anyone. Now that I have the bike and got it up to par the state of Iowa is not letting me title it saying that it is a parts only and cannot be titled as such. Now I am looking for options. I verified per iowa I cannot use it as a donor bike to a custom project per vin on motor I cannot swap it to a new frame. My only option apears to be a so called title wash becuase if I can get it titled as a salvage in another state then Iowa will title it as salvage and I can then get it inspected to prior salvage status and get plates so that I can legaly ride it. My understanding is that this is considered not legal and I am not trying to break any laws I just want to ride the bike. like I said I am not trying to scam anyone or sell the bike to someone unknowingly, If I do get plates for it no one will ever get it as I will never give this bike up I have put too much blood sweat and tears into it. Anyway I am looking for sugesstions. Thanks ahead of time.
