Default 99 tc timing

I just replaced the cam bearings and tenisoners in my 99 tc the motor got turned over while installing the oil pump how the manual said. I now am having trouble getting the timing right. everything is installed right by the manual, but can't get the cams timed with crank, i've tried everything I can think of with no luck. Is front or rear cyl. number one on TC? I've been told its not the same as evo . can anyone help me with this?
