General Topics/Tech TipsDiscussion on break in periods, rider comfort, seats and pad suggestions. Tech tips as they become available will be posted here.
I see a lot of threads talking about how someone got hit by a cage and most half of the time this is not the riders fault and is not avoidable. Looking at statics from DOT and Colorado State Patrol I find that the majority of motorcycle accidents are single vehicle. Either hitting a stationary object or running off the road. Alcohol is another leading factor of motorcycle fatalities!
One of many sites and studies that all point back to the rider as the biggest threat on the road. Something to think about and something that rider training can help prevent.
Almost 50% of all motorcycle fatalities are single vehicle, the other 50% are multiple vehicle with the motorcyclists being at fault about half the time. All the statics from different studies are about +/- 5% apart and all trend the same way for a 10 year period. Just do a Google search and find out for yourself.
Unintended lifestyle change - no drinks with dinner
Just bought my first bike in about 25 years and realized accidentally caused an unintended lifestyle change. FL is hot, so it's nice to ride at night, but not always sure if I'm going to ride or not, which means no wine or alcohol with dinner (always been a light-weight). This is not a bad thing (should save a few calories), but had not even thought about it until I came home from work the first night I owned the bike and was dreaming of a nice cold beer. Oh well, the 1 hour ride along the ocean coast was more enjoyable Cheers, Kevin.
