A buddy of mine dropped his bike the other day and had minor injuries to his elbow. He has a dent in his fuel injected tank now about the size of a fist. Does anyone know a good place in the Dallas Ft, Worth area that could fix this for him at a reasonable price, or will it be cheaper to replace the tank. He is on a tight budget. Thanks
inside liner will begin to deterioate.. Can peel off and really gumm things up. Unless you can get it cleaned out and recoated inside AFTER dent repair, better of with another.. With dent repair, paint and clean/recoat interior could be pricey..
Pull the plate off the top of the tank, remove the pump assembly and everything. fill the tank with water, put the plate back on and the gas cap. Put it in the freezer.
Since it is a big dent, it might take 2 or 3 tries, but the expanding water will push the dent out.....

This is probably not a good idea if I have a fuel cell with decorative indentations--otherwise I could just blow the whole thing up, like a balloon, w/ air pressure, right, or not?

I dont understand what you are trying to say. no, air pressure wont work. there is no tape strong enough to keep that much air contained.
well you keep reading articles. I had 3 gas tanks I bought off a guy for 100 dollars because they had some dents. I filled them with water and put them all into a deep freezer and pushed all the dents out. I pressure tested them and sold them for 100 a piece. But hey, any yahoo on yahoo has got to be smarter than a guy that has done it...

There's no way I'm gonna refuse that.
