To remove heavy bugs, use a hot towel and let it sit on the debris. After that, the only thing i would ever use is a micro cloth and PLEXUS, great stuff and you will like it.
First, flow fresh water over the windshield while lightly rubbing with the palm of you hand. That will get rid of the bulk of material that will scratch the windshield. Then use Plexus, Novus, or any other polish made for it. When you do get scratches, Novus makes some abrasive cleaners than will get the light scratches out.
I use the Novus stuff from the dealership. #1 forpolishing or light cleaning #2 for most stuff and #3 for scratches. I also use microfiber rags available from wall mart, etc and when they get dirty, they become grease rags and get another windshield rag.
Plexus works very good and if you do get some scratches or foggy that begins to occur I've used a product called PlastX a plastic polisher from Macquires products. I polishes out small scratches and helps clear up any foggy issues that occur inside the plastic.
I use Honda Cleaner/Polisher, it works on everything, chrome plasic, seats, windshield. For $5.00 a can that makes it even nicer. It worked great on my old bike, and works great on my RK.
