If you don't work at a motorcycle shop or have friends that do. Whats a reliable way to get the technical know how on your bike? I doubt the trial and error method is recommended on these things.

Buy an HD service manual, they are quite thorough.

The Fix My Hog dvd's are really good along with the service manual. Oil and fluids are all pretty staright forward but for adjusting my clutch and doing the fall away test for the steering head bearing it was nice to see someone do it as opposed to just read it in the manual.

Take time to browse here on HDF. Pretty well every problem you are likely to suffer from has been dealt with!

Buy a manual and if you have questions ask. They are really simple machines to work on. You'll have a lot of pride in ownership when you can fix it yourself and feel safer when out on the road.
