Default Help very confused

I have a 2004 883 XLC with approximately 4900 miles on it . I am having some very bizarre problems now . I can be riding at 55 mph and then jump off the exit and come to a stop light . When this thing idles down it just wants to die like it is starving for gas starts popping and spitting and I have to pull to shoulder and just let it idle until it finds itself then I can go again. First my taxes have been paid . I have a 045 slow jet and a 180 main with the fuel screw out exactly 2.5 turns. Screaming eagle air filter and SE 11 pipes and up until now have had absolutely no problems . Plugs read good burning about Tan colored . I recently installed new plugs thinking I had bad plugs but still have this problem . So I just accessed the diagnostic codes and have a code P0374 or something like this it means Crankshaft position sensor . Could this be the problem ? Since I am the second owner the warranty does transfer to me if the part needs replaced . Just not sure . I also replaced the round intake gasket thinking I had a vacuum leak and it is sdtill doing this . Once i get it moving it seems to be fine . Just completely puzzled now . Any suggestions ?

The P0374 code that you have relates to the crankshaft position sensor. Barring any other problems like broken/disconnected wires, I would say to replace the sensor. They do go bad.

Where exactly would the sensor be located . I can probably slip outside at lunch and check the wires . I appreciate the advice I really do not want to have to take the bike to the shop and be without it for a couple weeks . they are always so so busy .

Not exactly sure on the sporty but on the big twin it's located up by the oil filter, you hit it with the filter wrench when removing the filter. Try a post in the sportster section , maybe someone there can verify this for you.
