Default Helmets in DFW

I've been riding for many years in the DFW area and I used to see everybody on Harleys without helmets. Now a days I've been seeing less do-rags and more helmets on top. I wear a helmet everytime I ride. I know its hot these days but I still do it. Have any of you riders changes your thinking on the idea of wearing over the years? I'm just curious.

I wear a full face helmet I have worked the emergency room as a doctor and have seen head injuries from motorcycle accidents. No matter how you fall if you land on your head you will sustain injuries. Shorty helmts protect your top of your head but not your face and mouth ( teeth). A good DOT approved helmet or one with a SNELL rating as well would be good to have on your head in case of an accident or fall. The thing you have to remember is dying is the easy part. but having brain damage and watching others ride their motorcycles as while you are in a wheelchair and cannot move or worse. A dew rag is not much protection on pavement or gravel. I am not lecturing as it is a free country, but have seen too many people that wouldl have been able to walk out of the hospital on their own if they were wearing a helmet, sustain serious injuries or death.
